Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital Receives Heartwarming Donation from Creature Comfort Foundation
Creature Comfort Foundation Donates Slumberkins to Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital
Lowell, MA — March 2025 — The Creature Comfort Foundation is proud to announce its latest donation of Slumberkins plush companions to Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital, a respected institution known for its dedicated pediatric care. This delivery, part of Creature Comfort’s growing outreach across the country, brings comfort, emotional support, and healing tools to young patients—and it even includes the warm welcome of the hospital’s cherished facility dog, Sophia.
The donation includes Slumberkins "Bigfoot Kin" and "Sprite Kin" plush characters, each thoughtfully designed to promote emotional growth, courage, and resilience in children. These companions are not simply toys; they serve as coping tools for patients navigating challenging medical journeys.
Bridget Migliozzi, MS, CCLS, CEIM, Certified Child Life Specialist and Facility Dog Handler at Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital, shared her thoughts on the impact of the donation:
“As a certified child life specialist and facility dog handler, I love sharing the magic that facility dogs can bring to a nervous child in the hospital. Facility dogs bring comfort, love, and snuggles! However, this is just one interaction. Our partnership with Creature Comfort Foundation has allowed us to provide pediatric patients with Slumberkins, like Bigfoot Kin, so they have a little extra magic and love to stay with them throughout their hospitalization and back home with them.”
As the first hospital in Massachusetts to receive a Creature Comfort donation, Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital is helping pave the way for broader access to emotional wellness tools for children in medical settings. The partnership highlights the growing recognition that physical healing and emotional well-being go hand in hand.
