ABOUT US
Our vision is simple yet powerful. We imagine the spread of joy and encouragement, touching the hearts of children, parents, and healthcare providers alike. We believe that a smile has the power to uplift, to console, and create an environment that encourages healing.
Creature Comfort started with a single stuffed animal that Ava found in the back of a hospital closet.
During her volunteer shift at her local hospital, Ava noticed a crying child and his anxious parents trying to console him. She combed through the hospital's supplies to find something to soothe the kid and stumbled upon a box of teddy bears. After asking permission, Ava handed over a teddy bear to the sniffling kid who immediately smiled and hugged his new best friend, much to the relief of his parents. That fateful day, Ava realized the power of such a small act of kindness for children and their loved ones, and she proposed a partnership with the head nurse at her local hospital to start a non-profit organization to help comfort children in regional hospitals everywhere.
While major metro hospitals have entire departments dedicated to improving the hospital experience for children, smaller regional hospitals typically do not have the funding for these essential programs. Creature Comfort aims to fill this gap and bring smiles to every kid undergoing medical care.
