Creature Comfort Foundation Launches ComfortKit Program with Delivery to Pediatric Patients at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional

The Creature Comfort Foundation has delivered its first official My ComfortKit boxes to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, marking a meaningful milestone in its nationwide mission to provide emotional support and comfort to children undergoing medical care.

Located in Cape May County, New Jersey, Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional is a trusted provider of comprehensive health care for the local community. As a part of the Cooper University Health Care system, the hospital delivers a wide range of services with a strong focus on patient-centered care, including a dedicated emergency department that treats pediatric patients facing injury, illness, and other health challenges.

The new My ComfortKit program was warmly welcomed by Cape Regional’s dedicated team of volunteers and staff, who see firsthand how fear and anxiety can affect a child’s hospital stay. The kits—specially designed to soothe, engage, and uplift young patients—include items like storybooks, activity tools, fidget toys, art supplies, and a heartfelt note from Ava, the founder of Creature Comfort Foundation.

“Thank you Ava and Creature Comfort for the gifts to make our little patients feel special, feel less scared, and enable our staff and volunteers to feel they made a difference,” said Raymond Wisniewski, CPXP, Director of Patient Experience, Volunteer Services, Gift Shop & Pastoral Care at Cape Regional.
He added, quoting Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Creature Comfort Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the emotional well-being of hospitalized children through small but meaningful acts of care—like providing plushies and ComfortKits that serve as companions during challenging medical journeys. With the help of hospital partners, child life specialists, and community donors, the foundation continues to expand its reach across the country.

“This delivery is just the beginning,” said Ava. “We want every kid to know they’re not alone and that there’s a whole team of creatures and caring people cheering them on.”
