Creature Comfort Foundation Spreads Love at UI Health with Slumberkins Donation
This Valentine’s Day, Creature Comfort Foundation continued its mission of bringing comfort and joy to children in hospitals with a heartwarming donation to the Children’s Hospital University of Illinois (UI Health). Through our partnership, we delivered Slumberkins Bigfoot Kins to young patients, providing them with warmth, companionship, and a sense of security during their hospital stay.
The donation was received with excitement by Certified Child Life Specialist, Samantha Krawiec, who saw firsthand the impact these plush companions had on her patients, including seven long-term psychiatric patients who are often limited in what they can receive due to hospital restrictions. Because Slumberkins are entirely soft with no plastic parts, these special plushies were safe and accessible for all patients, including those in psychiatric care.
“Our first shipment of Slumberkins has already made a lot of kids here smile! Since I received the boxes on Valentine’s Day, I was able to give each of my seven long-term psych patients a Slumberkin as a Valentine’s gift. One of them even came up to me and said, ‘Miss Sam, I’ve never gotten a Valentine before!’ as she hugged her Slumberkin really tight. They LOVE them, and the books are so special,” shared Krawiec.

Plush companions like Slumberkins play a crucial role in helping young patients feel less alone during difficult times.
